Billing and Refund Policy

How prepaid access, event credits, usage, payment verification and refunds work.

Last updated 3 November 2026

This policy applies to purchases and usage-based charges for Hookstride projects. It supplements our Terms of Service. The active project's checkout displays the authoritative plan price, currency, and entitlement before you authorize a payment.

1. Available plans

  • Free: a no-charge monthly allowance, currently 1,000 accepted events per calendar month, subject to fair-use and eligibility controls.
  • Team: a prepaid 30-day access period with a calendar-month event allowance, currently 100,000 accepted events when the prepaid period is active.
  • Flex: prepaid blocks of event credits, currently 10,000 credits per bundle. Unused credits carry forward while your eligible Flex account remains active and are consumed when a new event is accepted or a replay is chargeable.

The published default prices are GHS 99 per Team period and GHS 30 per Flex bundle. These are the standard catalog settings, not a substitute for checking the actual amount shown by your project at checkout. Any applicable taxes, processor charges or price changes will be displayed before payment where required.

2. Prepaid access and renewal

Paid plans are prepaid. Hookstride does not currently charge automatic recurring subscription renewals. A Team payment provides a 30-day access period beginning after verified activation; its monthly event allowance resets at the start of a calendar month during that period. Flex credits are deducted from the available balance as events are accepted. Team access may revert to a Free entitlement after expiry, subject to the active plan configuration.

A pending checkout is not a successful payment. Billing status is updated only after verification with the processor. Changing between paid plans may be limited while a prepaid Team period remains active or Flex credits remain unused.

3. What counts as a billable event?

Each newly accepted event consumes one applicable unit. An event rejected before acceptance does not create a successful submission. Retrying an already accepted webhook automatically is not counted as a new event. A repeated request with the same valid idempotency key and unchanged content returns the original event without consuming an additional accepted-event unit.

A manual replay is a new processing action and may consume an additional unit under the active plan. For the optional incoming gateway, one distinct upstream notification is counted once even when it routes to several destinations. Your project's usage view is the reference for consumed units and remaining allowance.

4. Billing is project-specific

Payments, usage, credits, entitlements and transaction history are tied to the project for which a purchase was made. A payment for one project cannot be verified as a purchase for another project. Workspace owners are responsible for selecting the correct project before checkout. Credits are not automatically transferable between projects or accounts.

5. Payment processing

Supported direct checkout payments are handled through Paystack. Your checkout may be subject to additional terms and payment-method rules imposed by Paystack, your card issuer, mobile-money provider or bank. Hookstride keeps payment references, plan information, amount, currency and payment status for reconciliation and accounting; payment instrument details are handled by the processor.

We do not treat a redirect, an unverified callback or a screenshot as proof that a charge succeeded. Failed or pending transactions do not activate access until verified. If money has been debited but your entitlement is not active, contact billing support with the transaction reference and project name—never your PIN or full card information.

6. Refund eligibility

You may request a refund of an unused prepaid purchase within 14 calendar days after a confirmed payment. The standard eligibility conditions are:

  • The transaction belongs to your workspace project and was successfully verified.
  • For Team, the purchased entitlement has not been used to accept events since activation.
  • For Flex, the credits from that purchase remain unused and have not been spent on accepted or replayed events.
  • The purchase is not associated with fraud, abusive use, or a previously settled chargeback.

We review unused-purchase requests against usage and processor records. Partial use, technical service incidents, and purchases older than 14 days are assessed individually, in addition to any mandatory legal rights. Verified duplicate charges, incorrect charges, and refunds required by law will be corrected independently of the standard unused-purchase conditions. A refund request is not automatic cancellation of an active charge or a promise of approval.

7. How to request a refund

Open Billing Support and provide your verified account email, workspace/project name, payment reference, payment date, and the reason for the request. Please do not share card numbers, account passwords, banking PINs, verification codes, or API secrets. We may request additional evidence of ownership before processing a refund.

Approved refunds are sent through the original processor or a permitted alternative where necessary. Payment-provider settlement and bank times vary. Any non-refundable processor fees are handled in accordance with applicable law and the transaction terms; we do not subtract fees where prohibited. When a prepaid payment is reversed, the associated access or unspent credits may be adjusted or revoked.

8. Disputes and chargebacks

If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact billing support first so that we can review payment and project records. You retain any non-waivable rights to seek redress through your payment provider or relevant authority. Chargebacks and reversed payments may lead to temporary restrictions on the affected paid entitlement while the payment status is investigated. We will not treat a valid exercise of statutory rights as prohibited conduct.

9. Taxes, currencies and pricing changes

Prices are shown in the payment currency supported for the relevant checkout, currently Ghanaian cedis for the standard catalog. Currency conversion, foreign-exchange charges and card-issuer fees may be applied by external providers. You are responsible for taxes applicable to your organization, except those Hookstride must collect or remit under law. Material changes to future plan prices do not change a completed prepaid purchase.

10. Service failure and expiry

Transient delivery failures caused by an unavailable receiver, invalid signing setup, an unauthorized destination or a third-party outage do not automatically create a refund entitlement; these are part of asynchronous webhook operation. If a substantial failure is attributable to Hookstride, contact support with event IDs and dates so we can investigate appropriate remedies under these Terms and applicable law.

Team periods expire unless renewed by a new verified purchase. Flex credits remain available while the relevant eligible account and Flex plan remain active, subject to lawful suspension, closure, disputes, and any specific written contract. Account deletion is not a substitute for requesting an eligible refund.

11. Changes to this policy

We may change this policy for new purchases by publishing an updated date and giving notice when legally required. Terms accepted for a completed purchase and mandatory consumer protections continue to apply as required by law.
